Q: Why Element Cable?
A: Besides proven audiophile parts, advanced designs, and our reasonable prices, we offer the finest craftsmanship in the business. We take great care in assembling your cable and pride ourselves in being the best.
During our time in the cable business, we've seen our share of bad assembly. Here are a few signs of bad assembly we've seen over the years and other things you should be aware of:
Some of the most common mistakes "reasonably priced" cable vendors are guilty of is bad solder joints with interconnects. We've seen instances in which a conductor is barely hanging on to the solder by a thin strand. A number of vendors fail to prepare conductors properly before it's soldered onto the connectors resulting in a poor joint. With power cables, a common mistake is a cross in polarity, a result of the assembler's failure to properly install the hot and neutral conductor causing polarity to be crossed.
Some time back, we were asked to cut a pair of speaker cables from a "reasonably priced" vendor shorter and reterminate. The customer and I were both surprised the cable hidden under the mesh outer jacket was simply a cheap large guage lamp cord. This vendor advertises a fancy design and sells it for approximately the same price as our Twisted Pair speaker cable, a cable that we usually spend 3 hours to assemble.
While the majority of poor assembly will never be realized by the consumer because the cable still works, a consumer has the right to expect his/her order to be built correctly. With Element Cable, we take extra care in the assembling process. It becomes a habit with every cable we build. From 2007-2008, Element Cable is trusted with providing custom testing cable for the U.S. Department of Defense, an honor we're all very proud of and speaks for our quality.
Q: Why is there not a phone number listed on your website?
A: We are still a small business and need to work as efficiently as possible to keep prices reasonable. I spend most of the week and weekends building cables, ordering parts, packing orders, answering emails, as well as doing R&D to keep our products and business going strong. While I love talking audio with my fellow audiophile friends, our conversations usually exceeds 25 mins. and cutting into much of the work day. We take great pride in assembling our cables, and for me to step away to answer a phone call would likely mean I 'm abandoning a cable I'm in the middle of building. With email, I can answer your questions when my mind is fresh and my attention undivided.
Q: Why don't you take orders over the phone?
A: Our "Check Out" system is designed for us to keep orders organized as they come in. All of your order information and special request is available to us at the click of a finger. With our ecommerce system in place, all credit card information are processed directly with our credit card processor, Authorized.Net, via secure SSL connection. Hence, your credit card number is safe without us knowning your credit card number.
Q: Are your cables available to those overseas?
A: Yes, we do accept international orders, we've shipped cables all over the world. Our shipping method is through the US Post Office EMS Express Mail which includes tracking and insurance.
Q: Are cables shorter than your standard length available?
A: Yes, we can build cables that are shorter than our standard length. However, they will not carry the 30 day money back guaranteed. We can also change outer sleeve color, heatshrink color according to your request at no extra charge. Contact us.
Q: Which is better, Twisted Pair II or the new Twisted Pair Ultra?
A: Well, it depends on what you're looking for.
The strength of the TP II is its openness and neutrality, it is slightly softer sounding compared to the new Ultra version.
The new Ultra has much better control, improved detail, imaging, speed, and separation of instruments. The Ultra doesn't favor any frequency staying balanced and neutral overall.
Q: Why was PE used instead of Teflon for insulation in the new TP Ultra?
A: The first version of the TP Ultra we drew up used Teflon insulation with smaller, purer conductors meant to improved control.
In testing, this version had more energy in the highs than I preferred, other testers were also in agreement.
After, a few other unsuccessful changes, I decided to try PE. Our manufacturer introduce a unique extrusion method which tightly extrude PE onto the conductors, this method is designed to minimize oxidation to the conductors. With the new extrusion method (we called it DAS), the cable had everything that I hoped for and more.
Q: Is your price for one pair or a single cable?
A: All of our speaker cables and analog interconnects are priced for one pair. Power cords, digital, and subwoofer cables are sold as single.
Q: How do I order five interconnect for my 5.1 channel setup?
A: Enter Additional Length you wish, then click "Add to Cart". Enter 2.5 for Quantity(Qty.), then click "Update". The .5 designate one cable. Same goes for speaker ca
